Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold: folding screen, hinge, and what can be repaired
Foldables are fragile in one precise place: the fold. Everything else is repaired like a regular Galaxy.
The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold have two screens: an outer glass screen, and a flexible inner screen covered by a factory protective film. The hinge joins the two halves and routes the flex cables through every fold.
The faults we see
- Protective film bubbling or peeling at the fold: it is a consumable, replaced on its own without touching the panel, provided it wasn't scratched off with a fingernail.
- Inner screen with a line or a dark half: the flexible panel is cracked at the fold. Complete inner screen replacement, genuine Samsung part.
- Broken outer screen: classic replacement.
- Hinge that creaks, has play or no longer holds positions: cleaning, or hinge replacement with flex transfer.
- Battery: foldables have two, one per half; we replace the worn one, or both.
What you should know
The inner screen is the most expensive part of the phone, and Samsung only sells it with a frame: the price is quoted model by model, announced before we start. Dust is the enemy: a grain of sand under the film leaves a permanent mark within a few folds.

Never remove the factory film yourself, keep the phone closed in your pocket, and have the film replaced as soon as it bubbles rather than waiting for the panel to crack.
