The 49 € diagnosis, deducted if you repair: exactly how it works
Three questions that come up on the phone: what is the diagnosis, why does it cost money, and when doesn't it. Here are the answers.
What we do during a diagnosis
We open the device, measure (current draw, voltages, resistances), inspect under the microscope, read the logs when there are any, and identify precisely what has failed. It takes between twenty minutes and two hours depending on the device. At the end you have a firm price and an explanation.
Why it has a price
Because it is the real work. A “free diagnosis” generally funds the most expensive repair (replacing the whole module) or a quick conclusion (“logic board dead, unrepairable”). Looking for the component at fault rather than swapping the board is what makes our repairs cheaper; it takes time that we charge once, and then deduct.
When you don't pay it
- You go ahead with the repair: the 49 € is deducted from the repair. You pay the price on the prices page, not a euro more.
- The device can't be repaired: nothing is charged, neither diagnosis nor return.
When you do pay it
One situation only: the device is repairable, we have given you a price, and you prefer not to repair (for instance because the price exceeds the device's value, which we tell you frankly). You then pay the 49 €, and leave with the device reassembled and a clear diagnosis.
A quote by phone or through the form remains free: for a common fault (screen, battery, port) no diagnosis is needed, the price is the one on the prices page.

Repair the component or replace the board: why we almost always choose the component
A new logic board is half the device's price, and your data lost. A component is a few euros. The two approaches, and what each one implies.
My phone is under two years old: manufacturer warranty or independent repairer?
The legal conformity warranty covers factory defects for two years, not breakage. When it is better to go through the seller, and when an independent repair makes sense.
